Ravenna is a fascinating city, with a lot of history and culture. It is captivating to stroll through the streets of the centre where every corner hides beautiful historic buildings, monuments declared heritage of Unesco, ancient churches and beautiful mosaics.

There are a lot more reasons to visit Ravenna. The soul of Ravenna are the shops in the centre with their owners who have been passionately carrying on the traditions of this city for decades.

Map of the shops was created based on the photographic project “The soul of Ravenna” from which it derives its name.

I wanted to contribute to saving historical heritage, art, culture and local entrepreneurial tradition of Ravenna, I decided to photograph shops and small businesses that together represent the soul of the city, of its centre. Photographing not only the shops but also their owners, the real protagonists, who put passion and dedication every day in what they do.
